Keswick

Keswick is a community within the town of Georgina, located north of Toronto, on Cook’s Bay, part of Lake Simcoe. Keswick is the most northern part of York Region, and approximately a ten-minute drive from Newmarket.
The most recent recorded population of Keswick is from 2016, with 26,757 citizens. The population continues to grow with the expansion of the 404 Highway.

Keswick was originally thought of as “cottage country”, but as the population grows and development continues in the small community, it is now considered a wonderful place for families, commuters, and retirees.
There are a variety of housing options in Keswick, ranging from “cottages” by the water, older homes in mature neighbourhoods, to newer developments located close to Leslie Street.

There are a number of conveniences located within Keswick, including many shopping spots, such as Walmart, Canadian Tire, Home Hardware and, of course grocery stores. There are also no shortage of restaurants offering a variety of cuisine, from Bistros, Italian, Sushi, Pizza, wings, BBQ, and more. With Newmarket so close by, places like movie theatres, malls, and the Southlake Hospital are easily accessible.

In the winter choose from ski, snowboard, tubing, and skating. In the warmer months you can fill your time with rock climbing, archery, bike parks and paths, and outdoor movies.

The community is also home to Georgina Pioneer Village, a multi-building historical centre built on over ten acres of land, showcasing history of the area from 1850-1920. Many festivals and special events are held there throughout the year, as well as school group and public visitors.
The Stephan Leacock Theatre has been a Georgina landmark since opening in 1985. The auditorium hosts all types of performers, from community theatre, to Yuk Yuk’s comedians, to internationally acclaimed musicians. Check this place out for wonderful entertainment!

There are many schools located in Keswick, and they continue to be built as the growing population demands. There are seven public elementary schools, and two Catholic elementary schools, some of which offer French Immersion, Before/After school daycare, and more. High School students attend Keswick High School or Our Lady of the Lake. There are also a few day care centres and preschools for younger families to choose from.
