Alcona is a community located within the town of Innisfil, part of Simcoe County. Situated on the Western shore of Lake Simcoe, Innisfil had been considered a rural area up until the recent expansion of Barrie and the GTA, causing an influx in residential development throughout the town. Located just South of the city of Barrie, and approximately 40 minutes North of Toronto, Innisfil has seen a rise in commuters choosing to call this small town home.
Alcona runs east/west from the 20th sideroad all the way to the lake, and north/south from 9th line to Moyer Avenue.
The community of Alcona includes Innisfil Beach Park, a popular gathering spot complete with lake and sandy beaches, a huge playground for children, boat launch, fishing, walking/cycling paths, bbqs, snack bar, pavilion, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, volleyball courts and public washrooms. Festivals are held here throughout the year, and it also makes the perfect spot for an impromptu beach day or quick trip to the playground.
The Lakeshore branch of the Innisfil Library can be found on Innisfil Beach Road, the main street running through Alcona. This newly built location, offers programs for children, book clubs, workshops, special events, and more.
Alcona is also home to some great public and Catholic schools for both elementary and secondary students. Nantyr Shores SS, Good fellow PS, Alcona Glen ES, Holy Cross CS, and St. Francis of Assisi, are all found within the borders of Alcona.
